Hello lovelies! Today I am going to be talking about something that I really encourage every college student to do: study abroad. Many colleges offer amazing study abroad options, so that you can choose a location and class schedule that works for you, while still graduating on time. Going abroad was something I always wanted to do in college, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find the time or means to make it happen. Still, I think there are many good reasons to consider going abroad while you are in college – here are 5 of them.
1. Experience a completely different culture
Above all else, studying abroad is a learning experience. By going abroad, you have a unique opportunity to completely immerse yourself into a different culture, and gain perspective on how other people live and the struggles that other communities face.
2. Learn more about yourself
In the process of these new experiences, you will likely find out things about yourself that you didn’t know before. You will be able to better understand who you are in relation to the world around you, and be able to take a step back and acknowledge that your experiences are often very different from others.
3. Gain new skills, new career opportunities
A major reason to study abroad is the possibility of gaining valuable career opportunities. If you want to pursue a life in another country, studying abroad and testing it out is a great way to learn about the area while gaining career experience in an internship or part-time job. You can also begin to network and develop relationships with people who can help further your career after graduation.
4. Be spontaneous and have fun
By seeing parts of the world you haven’t before and by opening yourself up to these new experiences, you will be able to make amazing new memories and have a ton of fun meeting new people and living life to the fullest.
5. You’ll end up appreciating your own life more
While you are away, you’ll have to learn to be more independent and rely on yourself more fully. You will probably discover a deepened appreciation for your family and friends back home, and all of the blessings that you have waiting for you there.
