Hey, everyone. So it’s getting to the end of the semester, which means a lot of papers, projects, and finals are on the way for us all. It can get really easy to feel overwhelmed and overworked around this time of the year, and the stress is real. So here are a few quick tips on how to handle stress and keep your motivation (and sanity!) in check.
Come up with a list of all of the things you need to accomplish and by what date, and then prioritize based on the due dates and how long it will take you to get each specific thing done. Don’t procrastinate.
Take a deep breath. Spend a few seconds in silence to clear your head of all the thoughts. You can do this, you are going to be just fine. Don’t let everything overwhelm you all at once – it will be okay.
Schedule your time with a calendar or planner, laying out specific intervals of time in which you can take breaks, relax, and perhaps take a nap. 30 minutes of calc homework for 10 minutes of relaxation time, for example. Pencil in breaks when you feel like you can’t handle it anymore.
Write (or talk) it out
The best thing you can do when you have a lot of ~feelings~ is to share them with other people. This is something I honestly struggle with at times, as well, but holding things inside only makes them worse. If you like to write, jot your thoughts and concerns all down in a notebook or Word document. Or if you’d rather have the human side to it, grab a friend, therapist, family member or random stranger at the bus stop and spill what you are going through.
This is my number one piece of advice on anything in life, because I swear sleeping solves all of the problems in the world.
Good luck everyone and don’t worry too much! It will all be okay in the end, I promise! Thanks for reading. Find me on Twitter @CaseyDonart for more helpful college tips.
